Student Achievement

Right now, more than 16,000 KIPP students across the country are tenaciously putting in the extra work necessary to succeed in college and the competitive world beyond. Our KIPPsters are proving that, with hard work and determination, they can achieve beyond expectations. More than 95 percent of students are matriculating to college-prep high schools—earning more than $25 million in scholarships and financial aid since 2000. And more than 80 percent of KIPP students nationwide have gone on to college.

Special Programs, Awards & Successes

The following highlights just some of the many special achievements and successes of KIPP students:

* Doris Fisher KIPPster of the Year Awards – Named on behalf of KIPP board member and
philanthropic partner Doris Fisher of Gap Inc., this annual award honors six KIPPsters for high academic achievement, leadership, and exemplary character.
* KIPP-STEP at Deerfield Academy – This three-week summer program at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts provides KIPP students with exposure to the resources, academic rigor, and expectations of boarding school.
* Jack Kent Cooke Young Scholars – Targeting high-achieving youth with financial need, this annual scholarship award provides students with individualized educational opportunities and support throughout high school.
* KIPP Student Leadership Summit – This annual summit provides KIPP students with the opportunity to engage in a full weekend of leadership development and teamwork activities, marked in 2007 by the first-annual School Improvement Proposal contest.
